Author's Notes: Written for the Jan '08 drabble challenge at Hogwarts Is Home
The sorting hat witnessed things others did not. Love, Hate, breaking of porcelain. It was present when Godric and Salazaar attempted a drinking contest. It was present when they first kissed. It witnessed Godric telling Helga of his unrequited love, the woman patting him on the back as they awkwardly hugged. It witnessed Rowena psychoanalyzing Salazaar to his face. It witnessed Godric telling Salazaar to go elsewhere for a whore. It witnessed the beginning of a love affair and the eventual betrayal. The sorting hat kept many secrets, yet not as many as the Founders of Hogwarts.
